The Escapement Approach
Every service follows the same sequence: intake assessment, written notes shared with the owner, work carried out, timing or function check, and a written record provided at collection. The sequence doesn't change depending on the service type or the value of the piece.
Where parts are needed beyond the standard consumables for a service, those are discussed and priced before ordering. Where the scope of work shifts during disassembly — which can happen with older movements — the owner is informed before the work proceeds.
Turnaround estimates are given at intake based on the current queue. If that changes, we say so promptly rather than hoping the delay goes unnoticed.
Step 01
Intake & Assessment
Piece received by appointment. Condition noted, photographs taken. Initial findings recorded.
Step 02
Owner Review
Assessment shared with the owner. Scope confirmed, any additional costs agreed, work authorised.
Step 03
Service Carried Out
Disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, or refinishing as agreed. Notes updated throughout.
Step 04
Check & Collection
Timing or function check completed. Written work record prepared and handed over at collection.

Routine Servicing & Cleaning

Careful disassembly of the movement, ultrasonic cleaning of components, fresh lubrication applied to manufacturer specifications, and regulation to bring timekeeping back into a steady rate. Suited to quartz and mechanical pieces due for periodic care. Includes gasket inspection and a written record of the work carried out.

Case & Dial Refinishing

Gentle case polishing, crystal replacement, and dial detailing that respects the original character of the piece. A measured approach focused on preserving rather than over-restoring. Includes a pre-work assessment so the owner can review the planned steps first and decide how far the work should go.

Service 03
Complication & Heritage Overhaul

Full overhaul of chronographs, calendars, and older calibers, with component refurbishment where parts allow. A longer, methodical process for cherished and vintage timepieces. Documented stage by stage so the owner understands each decision as it's made, not just at the end.

Suited to: vintage pieces, chronographs, calendar complications, inherited or long-stored watches. The timeline is longer and the process more involved — this is reflected openly at assessment.

Standards
Shared Across All Services
These protocols apply regardless of which service a piece is booked in for.
Secure Storage
Each piece stored in an individual tray in a locked cabinet. Access limited to the assigned technician for the duration of the service.
Manufacturer-Grade Lubricants
Watch-grade oils and greases only — applied to each friction point in the correct quantities. Neither too much nor too little.
Intake Photography
Condition documented photographically at intake so the baseline is clear and any pre-existing marks are on record.
Timing Machine Check
Mechanical movements assessed on a timing machine after regulation. Objective data, not guesswork.
Written Work Record
A written account of the service is provided at collection — what was found, what was done, and any observations for future reference.
No Surprises Policy
Any change in cost or timeline is communicated to the owner before it happens — not discovered at collection.
